Getting Started
Basics about 7Konto and closed-loop payments
What is a closed-loop payment platform?
A closed-loop payment platform lets you issue and process payments within your own ecosystem — gift cards, prepaid balances, employee accounts — without routing every transaction through Visa, Mastercard, or a bank. Funds stay in your system, giving you full control over fees, data, and customer experience.
Who is 7Konto for?
7Konto is built for staffed businesses that want to accept internal balances, gift cards, coupons, or B2B2E accounts: retail chains, restaurants, hotels, corporate meal programs, employee benefits providers, event organizers, coalition loyalty operators, property management companies, and campus environments.
What's the difference between 7Konto and a regular payment terminal?
A regular payment terminal processes card payments through Visa or Mastercard networks. 7Konto processes closed-loop payments — internal balances stored on your platform, spent within your ecosystem. 7Konto works alongside your existing payment terminal, adding new payment types without replacing anything.
How is 7Konto different from Starbucks-style customer apps?
Starbucks built its own custom app that customers must install. 7Konto uses Apple Wallet and Google Wallet — already on every phone. No download, no signup, no barrier to adoption. You get Starbucks-like closed-loop economics without the app development or adoption problems.
Do I need special hardware to use 7Konto?
No. 7Konto works on your existing POS terminals from PAX, Verifone, Ingenico, and others. If you don't have a POS terminal, you can use a simple mobile app on any Android or iOS device — no dedicated hardware needed.
What businesses benefit most from 7Konto?
Businesses with repeat customers, gift card demand, employee benefit programs, or physical locations where staff interact with customers. If your customers spend money with you regularly, or you distribute prepaid credit to employees, 7Konto is likely a fit.
How It Works
Technical details of the payment flow
How does the customer receive a Wallet card?
The customer scans a QR code (on a poster, receipt, email, SMS, or screen), taps "Add to Apple Wallet" or "Add to Google Wallet" on their phone, and the card appears in their Wallet in about 10 seconds. No app download, no account creation, no signup form.
Do customers need to install an app?
No. Cards issue directly to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, which are already installed on every iPhone and Android phone. Customers never need to download anything from 7Konto or the merchant.
Does 7Konto work with Apple Wallet AND Google Wallet?
Yes. Cards issue to both. Customers with iPhones get the card in Apple Wallet. Android users get it in Google Wallet. Same card design, same functionality, same customer experience.
How does the payment flow work?
The most common flow: cashier enters the amount on your existing POS terminal, the terminal displays a QR code, the customer scans it with their phone camera, the transaction is processed, and the customer's Wallet card balance is updated in real time. Total time: about 5 seconds.
Can I use my existing POS terminal?
Yes, for most terminals. Any terminal that can display a QR code on its screen works. That includes all modern PAX, Verifone, and Ingenico terminals. For deeper integration, we provide a Terminal SDK for major vendors.
What if I don't have a POS terminal?
You can use the 7Konto mobile app on any Android or iOS device. Same payment flow — staff enters the amount, shows QR on their phone, customer scans with their own phone.
How fast is a typical transaction?
End-to-end: about 5 seconds from cashier entering the amount to customer seeing balance updated. The 7Konto ledger processes transactions in under 200 milliseconds — the rest is UI and QR scanning.
What happens if the customer's phone dies?
Customers can access their card details via web browser or ask staff to look them up via the admin panel. Physical backup cards can also be issued if the merchant wants. The card and balance exist on 7Konto's servers, not just on the phone.
Can customers use their card offline?
Not for payments — the platform needs to verify balances in real time. But viewing the card, checking balance, and reading transaction history all work offline (from the last synced state).
Online & E-commerce
Widget, PSP embedding, and online authentication
Does 7Konto handle online payments, or is it POS-only?
Both. The same balance works at a POS terminal and in an online checkout. We provide a checkout widget for merchant websites, and we embed directly into PSP gateways as a payment method. One admin panel, one transaction ledger, one reporting stream — offline and online together.
How does the online checkout widget work?
Merchants add the widget to their checkout page with a one-line JavaScript embed. When a customer picks "Pay with 7Konto", they authenticate in one of four ways: (1) scan their Wallet card, (2) receive an SMS code or Flash-call to their phone, (3) enter an email one-time code, or (4) log in with their corporate ID for B2B/B2E accounts. The widget then debits their 7Konto balance and returns success to the merchant.
Can 7Konto appear inside our existing payment gateway checkout?
Yes — this is one of our primary integration paths. 7Konto shows up as an additional payment method inside your PSP's checkout, alongside cards, wallets, and other methods you already offer. Merchants using your gateway see "Pay with 7Konto" automatically appear at checkout. No code changes required on the merchant side — we integrate once with your gateway, and every merchant on your platform benefits.
Do merchants need to change anything on their websites?
It depends on the path. (1) If they use a PSP that has integrated 7Konto — no changes at all. "Pay with 7Konto" just appears as a new payment method. (2) If they want the standalone widget directly on their site — they embed a small JavaScript snippet, typically one line of code. (3) For deep custom integrations, the API is available.
How does 7Konto know if a customer is B2C or B2B/B2E online?
Smart account detection at checkout. When a customer authenticates (via Wallet, phone, email, or corporate ID), the platform routes them to the right account type: personal gift cards and loyalty balances for consumers, corporate credit lines or employee allowances for B2B/B2E users. Same widget, different account routing — automatic.
What's the "Starbucks model for banks"?
Starbucks holds ~$1.5B of prepaid customer money — closed-loop economics. Their own gateway, no interchange, deep data. 7Konto lets a bank or PSP offer that same economics to their merchant portfolio, at scale, through the merchant's existing payment gateway. You stop being just a rail for fiat and start operating corporate payment ecosystems, offline and online.
Is the online flow secure? What about PCI DSS?
The online flow doesn't handle card numbers — it handles closed-loop balance transfers between 7Konto accounts. Different regulatory regime than open-loop card processing. All communications are encrypted, GDPR-compliant, and use EU data centers by default. PCI DSS applies to card data handling, which is your PSP's domain — 7Konto sits alongside as a separate payment method.
Can we style the widget to match our brand?
Yes. The widget accepts style tokens (colors, fonts, corner radius, button styles) and can appear in your brand palette or the merchant's. For deeper white-label control, the widget can be replaced with direct API calls into your own custom checkout UI — we support both approaches.
Pricing & Billing
How much 7Konto costs and how billing works
How much does 7Konto cost?
Solo — $49/month for single-location businesses with 2,500 transactions included. Network — $149/month for growing networks and e-commerce with 10,000 transactions included, gift cards module and Online Checkout Widget. Scale — $349/month for large networks and franchises with 30,000 transactions included, B2B2E accounts and smart account detection. Enterprise pricing is custom for large deployments. Every new business gets a free 30-day pilot.
What’s included in the Solo plan?
One location (up to 2 terminals), 2,500 transactions/month, Apple Wallet + Google Wallet, prepaid balances, admin dashboard, real-time balance tracking, and email support. Overage is $0.20 per transaction. Gift cards, Online Checkout Widget, REST API, and B2B2E accounts are available starting from Network.
What’s the difference between Solo, Network, and Scale?
Network adds: gift cards & certificates module, Online Checkout Widget, REST API + webhooks, up to 5 locations (10 terminals), multi-currency, priority chat support, and 10,000 included transactions with lower $0.12 overage. Scale adds on top: commercial (B2B2E) accounts portal, smart account detection (B2C/B2B/B2E), custom admin panel domain, advanced analytics, up to 20 locations (40 terminals), phone support, and 30,000 included transactions with $0.08 overage.
What counts as a transaction?
Top-up, debit (payment via POS, staff smartphone, or Online Checkout Widget), refund, and coupon redemption all count. Card issuance to Wallet is FREE — create as many cards as you need. Balance checks, failed transactions, and API read queries also do NOT count. Only real business operations count toward your limit.
Are there setup fees?
No setup fee for Solo, Network, and Scale plans. Enterprise deployments may include custom onboarding fees depending on scope — always transparent, always discussed before signing.
Can I change plans anytime?
Yes. Upgrade or downgrade at any time. Changes are prorated — you only pay for what you use. No lock-in, no cancellation fees, no long-term contracts.
What currency do you charge in?
Public pricing is in USD. Invoices can be issued in EUR, UAH, or other currencies for Business and Enterprise customers on request.
Do you offer annual billing discounts?
Yes, on Business and Enterprise tiers. Contact us for annual pricing — typically 15-20% off monthly rates.
Free Pilot
How the 30-day free pilot works
How does the free 30-day pilot work?
Every new business gets 30 days of full platform access with up to 10,000 operations included. Our team configures the platform for your specific business, trains your staff via video call, and helps onboard your first customers. All free. No credit card required. No obligations.
Do you really configure everything for me?
Yes. During the pilot, our team handles platform configuration end-to-end: setting up your business account, designing your Wallet card, configuring terminals, setting up admin users, and training staff. You just tell us what your business does — we do the rest.
Do I need a credit card to start the pilot?
No credit card required. We only ask for payment information if you decide to continue on a paid plan after the pilot.
What if I exceed 10,000 operations during pilot?
We'll contact you to discuss continuation. If you're hitting 10,000 operations in 30 days, your business is clearly getting value from the platform — we'll help you transition to a paid plan smoothly.
What happens after the pilot ends?
At the end of the 30 days (or after 10,000 operations, whichever comes first), you choose a paid plan to continue. Your data, cards, and configurations transfer seamlessly. If you decide not to continue, we archive your data and there's nothing to pay.
Can I cancel during the pilot?
Yes, at any time, for any reason. No cancellation process, no cancellation fee, no questions asked. Just let us know and we'll archive your account.
Who qualifies for the free pilot?
Any legitimate business with a real use case. If you have a business that could benefit from closed-loop payments, gift cards, or B2B2E accounts — you qualify. We reserve the right to decline pilots for businesses that clearly aren't a fit (e.g., single-person side projects with no revenue).
For Partners
Partnership questions from banks, EMIs, PSPs, acquirers, processors, POS vendors
Who can partner with 7Konto?
Banks, EMIs, acquirers, payment service providers (PSPs), processors, POS terminal vendors, and payment networks. We have a dedicated partnership program for each — you extend your merchant offering with closed-loop capabilities under your brand, offline and online.
Do you provide both an API and a ready checkout widget?
Yes. We offer three integration paths: (1) REST API + Terminal SDK — for banks with in-house engineering who want maximum control. (2) Checkout Widget — a ready JavaScript embed for merchant websites with four one-click auth methods (Wallet, SMS/Flash-call, email, corporate ID). (3) PSP Checkout Embedding — 7Konto appears as a native payment method inside your existing gateway, no merchant integration needed.
How does the PSP checkout embedding work technically?
We integrate with your payment gateway once. Every merchant on your platform then sees "Pay with 7Konto" auto-appear at their checkout, alongside cards and wallets. Customers pick it and authenticate via one of four one-click methods. The transaction runs on our closed-loop ledger, not through card rails. You get transaction data and revenue share on every payment. Merchant sites need zero changes.
How do we route revenue share on online vs POS transactions?
Revenue share applies uniformly across POS and online transactions — a single percentage of every closed-loop transaction fee, wherever it originates. Detailed monthly reporting breaks down offline vs online volumes so you can see channel performance separately. Terms are transparent, no black-box calculations.
Can merchants use online only, without accepting POS?
Yes. Online-only deployment is fully supported — e-commerce merchants can accept 7Konto through the widget or your PSP gateway without ever installing a POS terminal. Conversely, POS-only is also fine (retail without an online presence). Most merchants use both, but the platform doesn't require it.
How does revenue share work for partners?
You get a percentage of every transaction fee generated by merchants in your portfolio — both physical POS and online checkout. Specific percentages depend on volume, merchant category, and deployment model. Transparent monthly reporting shows exactly what you're earning.
What POS terminals do you support?
All major terminal vendors: PAX, Verifone, Ingenico, and others. For deep integrations, we provide a Terminal SDK. For lighter integrations, our QR code flow works on any terminal that can display QR codes.
How long does partner integration take?
Six to eight weeks to pilot end-to-end. Week 1 discovery, weeks 2–4 integration (API + Terminal SDK + Checkout Widget + optional PSP embedding), weeks 4–6 pilot with 5–10 merchants across POS and online. Our engineering team works directly with yours. Sandbox environments available for testing.
Can partners white-label 7Konto?
Yes. Full white-label options are available: custom domain, your logo and colors on admin panels and Wallet cards, your brand on merchant-facing materials, and the checkout widget styled to your palette. Merchants and customers see your brand, not 7konto.
Do you compete with our existing loyalty or card business?
No. 7Konto is closed-loop payments and stored value — different from traditional loyalty points programs and different from open-loop card acquiring. Complementary, not competitive. We add a parallel product line with better economics for merchant categories your card rails can't serve well (gift cards, employee allowances, restricted-use aid, B2B2E).
Integrations & Technical
API, webhooks, terminal integration
Do you have a REST API?
Yes. Comprehensive REST API for all platform functionality: card issuance, transactions, balance queries, reporting, admin operations, and checkout widget SDK. Available on Business and Enterprise tiers. Documentation and sandbox provided. Also includes hooks for PSP gateway integration and a Terminal SDK for POS deployments.
Do you support webhooks?
Yes. Webhooks for transaction events, card issuance, balance changes, and administrative events. Configure webhook endpoints in your admin panel. Available on Business and Enterprise tiers.
What terminals are compatible?
Any terminal that can display QR codes on screen — that includes most modern PAX, Verifone, and Ingenico terminals. For deeper integration, we provide SDK for major terminal vendors on Enterprise tier.
What auth methods does the online widget support?
Four one-click methods: (1) Wallet card scan — the same card used at POS. (2) Phone — SMS one-time code or instant Flash-call verification. (3) Email — one-time code. (4) Corporate ID — for B2B/B2E users, no consumer signup needed. Merchants or PSPs can choose which methods to enable. The widget auto-selects based on account type when the customer starts checkout.
How is online checkout different from your POS integration?
Same closed-loop ledger, different customer entry point. At POS: cashier enters amount, terminal shows QR, customer scans with phone camera. Online: customer picks "Pay with 7Konto" in checkout, authenticates via widget or PSP gateway, transaction confirms. Same balance debited, same admin panel, same reporting — different UI surface. The customer's Wallet card works in both places.
Can I integrate with my existing CRM?
Yes, via REST API + webhooks. Common integrations: sync customer records, enrich profiles with 7Konto data, feed dashboards, feed billing systems. Popular CRMs are supported with pre-built connectors on request.
Do you support multi-tenant setups?
Yes, on Business and Enterprise tiers. One master account can manage multiple businesses (locations, brands, franchisees, portfolio companies). Data is segregated per business. Perfect for chains, coalitions, and partners.
Is there an SDK?
Multiple SDKs available. Terminal SDK for major POS vendors (Enterprise tier) for deep integration. Checkout Widget SDK — a JavaScript library for embedding "Pay with 7Konto" into merchant websites. Client SDKs for iOS and Android for merchants who want to embed 7Konto into their own mobile apps.
Can I self-host 7Konto?
On-premise deployment is available on Enterprise tier only. Most customers benefit from our managed cloud infrastructure (updates, security, scaling handled by us). On-premise is offered for regulatory or specific technical requirements.
Compliance & Security
Regulatory and data protection
Is 7Konto GDPR-compliant?
Yes. GDPR compliance is built into the platform: data minimization, right to deletion, right to access, data portability, consent management. EU-based data centers by default. Full Data Processing Agreements available.
Where is customer data stored?
EU-based data centers by default, ensuring GDPR compliance and low latency for European customers. Other regions available for specific customer requirements. Data is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.
Do you comply with PSD2?
Yes. We operate under PSD2's closed-loop exemption — closed-loop payment programs are exempt from full banking authorization requirements under specific conditions. We stay within those conditions and provide guidance to partners on how their deployments do the same.
What about PSD3 (2026-2027)?
PSD3 is expected to tighten closed-loop regulations but grandfather existing compliant programs. We're actively tracking PSD3 developments and will ensure ongoing compliance for all partners. Structural changes are communicated well in advance.
Is closed-loop regulated like banking?
Not typically. Closed-loop programs operate under specific exemptions in most jurisdictions (PSD2 in EU, similar frameworks in Ukraine, US, Canada). We help partners structure programs to stay within exemptions and avoid banking regulation.
Do I need a banking license to use 7Konto?
No, for typical closed-loop use cases: gift cards, employee benefit accounts, hotel guest accounts, event payments, etc. These operate under closed-loop exemptions. For programs that might approach the boundary (e.g., very broad merchant networks), we advise upfront.
Comparisons
How 7Konto compares to alternatives
How does 7Konto compare to PassKit?
PassKit focuses on Wallet passes only — no payment processing. 7Konto is a full closed-loop payment platform with a ledger, transaction processing, POS terminal integration, and multi-tenant billing. Cards in 7Konto have real balances charged in real-time at the point of sale.
How does 7Konto compare to Badge (trybadge.com)?
Badge is a good gift-card-only platform for Wallet distribution. 7Konto covers gift cards but also prepaid balances, coupons, B2B2E accounts, and full closed-loop payment processing. Broader use cases, more comprehensive platform.
How does 7Konto compare to SDK.finance?
SDK.finance is enterprise-grade with source code license — powerful but requires large deployment budgets and 6-12+ month implementation. 7Konto is turnkey SaaS — deployed in days, priced for SMB to enterprise, with a free pilot.
Should I choose closed-loop or open-loop?
Depends on your goals. Open-loop (Visa/Mastercard) works for general-purpose payment cards. Closed-loop works for merchant-controlled ecosystems: gift cards, employee accounts, loyalty balances, event payments. Most businesses use both — open-loop for main payment processing, closed-loop for specific programs.
How does 7Konto compare to Stripe, Adyen, or PayPal?
Those are open-loop card processors — Stripe, Adyen, and PayPal move money between banks over Visa, Mastercard, and similar rails. They don't offer closed-loop natively. 7Konto is designed for closed-loop payments (gift cards, prepaid, employee accounts, B2B2E) and sits alongside those processors as an additional payment method — either through our checkout widget on merchant sites, or embedded directly inside their gateways as "Pay with 7Konto".
Is 7Konto like the Starbucks app?
Similar economics, better distribution. Starbucks built a custom app with high development cost and app-install friction. 7Konto delivers same closed-loop economics via Apple Wallet and Google Wallet — no custom app, no install friction, faster deployment. Plus we work online through PSP checkout embedding, extending the Starbucks model to any merchant portfolio.
