Capability

It runs on the terminal already on the counter

No dedicated hardware, no second device beside the till. The cashier enters the amount on the terminal you already have, the terminal draws a QR code, and the customer scans it with their own phone. About five seconds, end to end.

Updated

What happens, in order

  1. 01

    Cashier enters the amount

On the existing terminal, in the same motion as any other payment.

  2. 02

    The terminal displays a QR

Large and high-contrast, sized to be read across a counter.

  3. 03

    The customer scans it

With the phone camera. The card they added earlier is recognised automatically.

  4. 04

    The balance is debited

The ledger settles, the pass updates, and the receipt prints as usual.

The flow at the counter

The customer never hands over a phone and staff never type a card number. The terminal shows a code, the customer's own camera reads it, and the ledger settles the transaction in under 200 milliseconds. What takes the remaining seconds is people looking at screens.

No certification to pass

The flow sits beside card acceptance rather than inside it, so it does not touch the certified payment application.

No card data anywhere

A closed-loop debit moves balance between accounts on our ledger. There is no PAN in the flow to protect.

Works where there is no terminal

A market stall, a delivery driver or a pop-up runs the identical flow from an ordinary phone.

Questions about this

Does it work with my existing POS terminal?

Yes. The cashier enters the amount on the terminal you already run, the terminal shows a QR code, and the customer scans it with their own phone. That works on any terminal that can draw a QR on screen, which covers modern PAX, Verifone and Ingenico fleets. If there is no terminal at all, staff can run the same flow from a phone.

How is this different from a regular payment terminal?

A regular terminal moves card payments over the Visa or Mastercard networks. 7Konto moves closed-loop payments — internal balances held on the platform and spent inside your ecosystem. It runs alongside your card acceptance and adds payment types rather than replacing any.

How fast is a transaction?

About five seconds end to end, from the cashier entering the amount to the customer seeing the new balance. The ledger itself settles the transaction in under 200 milliseconds; the rest is interface and QR scanning.

Can a customer pay offline?

No — a payment needs the balance verified in real time. Viewing the card, checking the balance and reading the transaction history all work offline from the last synced state.

Which POS terminals are supported?

All the major vendors — PAX, Verifone, Ingenico and others. The QR flow works on any terminal that can display a QR code; a Terminal SDK is available where a deeper integration is wanted.
